About

I'm happy to take on a variety of different commissions. Whether that be bespoke pieces of furniture or large joinery projects, either for listed buildings or modern homes, I'm happy to build it. I make bespoke timber windows and doors, gates and staircases as well as furniture, kitchens and stand alone pieces for properties in Bath, the Cotswolds and further afield. I have been practising carpentry and traditional Joinery for over 12 years and have worked in a variety of different workshops and on various sites over those years which has equipped me with the skills to deliver all sorts of projects. I also provide general 1st and 2nd fix carpentry services in and around Bristol, including roofs, staircases, doors, architraves, shop frontages and more.

I work using many traditional techniques as well as combining more contemporary practices. From concept design through to build and installation I can make bespoke projects to suit most requirements.

Listed buildings

I have lots of experience working in older properties with making doors, windows, gates and other pieces of joinery using traditional techniques where quality is of utmost importance.

Traditional joinery techniques remain the strongest and best way to construct using wood and often are insisted upon when replacing pieces of joinery for listed buildings.

This kind of work will last a lifetime and beyond.

This is one of a set of replacement Oak casement windows for a listed building in the Cotswolds.

Furniture making

I carry through the same base knowledge and skills of traditional joinery into furniture pieces I make. I like to think that commissioned pieces of furniture will last for many years and be handed down through generations and try to encourage moving away from the disposable nature that has become high street furniture.

This example is a solid Ash TV cabinet/sideboard made from one slab of Ash running up the side, across the top and back down the other side. Hand cut mitred dovetails all round with Walnut handles.

Small spaces & garden buildings

Whether a dream hobbit house, a treehouse, a contemporary car port, a modern oak and glass conservatory or a studio room in the garden, I can build small timber frame structures from green oak or seasoned timbers as well as more contemporary materials such as glue-laminated beams.

I can take the project right through from framing to insulation and cladding to building bespoke windows and doors and interior spaces to create a truly inspiring small space for your house, garden or land.

Here we have a Hexagonal garden pavilion made from Western Red Cedar, Yew, Yellow Pine with an Oak floor and Cedar shingle roof. It sits at the end of the clients Petanque court nestled in the garden of their stunning Cotswolds home.

Decorative pieces

I've made many individual one off pieces such as bespoke display frames, gifts, boxes and replacement parts for treasured pieces of furniture or other items.

I really enjoy working on different scales and building one off bespoke items.

This example is made from quarter sawn oak and uses a very fine mitred dovetail joint and sliding lid. The client commissioned it to display a birthday present for their partner.
